We acted out the major causes of the revolution and then took notes on the foundation of French social structure and main economic causes of the revolution on pg 59. Pg 53 answered pre-reading questions , makred the artcile with + for positive things, - for negative things, ! for interesting things, and highlighted main ideas. On page 52 did "dont Break the Bank" instructions page 15 with a $3.00 limit.

10/4 and 10/5- We did a QW on the top of pg 32 (Whata re two similarities between Judaisma nd Christianity?) and then took notes on Christianity on pg 33. For homeowrk students need to write questions and summaries about the notes and also doa grasping a concept for Chirstianity on pg 32.
10/2 and 10/3- We went over how to retake/make up test in the testing center (Know if you are taking a retake or a make-up test and which test you want to do either the Written or Map Test or you can do both if you choose). We then did a QW on the top of page 30 and then took notes in Cornell Style on pg 31 about Judaism. we pratcied highlighting vocab, underlining main ideas, staring important facts, and put ? next to things we do not know. Students then indivudally wrote at least 3 questions in the question column of their notes. For homework they are to write the summary that answers the essential question or their own questions on the side. 2/19 and 2/20- We performed out skits on Apartheid and then started watching the film 'Power of One"
2/14 adn 2/15- We did a station activity reading 2 articles about the history of the colonization of South Africa and the history of Apartheid filling in 2 charts on page 105. We started to write scripts for the Apartheid laws on page 104. HW: STUDY FOR TEST ON 2/25 and 2/26
2/12 and 2/13- We read the "Colonialism in Africa" article and highlighted information about Europeans and information about African colonies and then classified the information as either a Pro or a Con on the chart on pg 103. We then worke on two assignments in our notebook, a grasping on concpet on page 100 (each finger including the thumb, a summary of what happened in the North, West, South, East, and Central Africa) and the Fold-It Comparing European Imperialists and African Colonies pf 102

2/8 and 2/11- Finished Imperialism in Africa Notes and started vocab for effects of Imperialism reading (pg 102). HW: Read first 2 paragraphs fo the article and highlight impact on Eurpeans (one color) and impact on colonies (a different color)
2/6 and 2/7- Check Imperialism map. Went over the motives of Imperialism pg 99 and did a chart analyzing primary source images about the different motives. Started notes on page 101 about how colonization effect the different areas of Africa. HW: Complete a Cartoon (instructions page 16) about 1 of the Motives of Imperialism
2/4 and 2/5- Started Imperialism. went over Unit plan 9pg92) and took some notes on page 94 adn 95. Also start Imperialism map on page 97 which was to be completed for HW.

1/24 and 1/25- Continued notes on Mexican Revolution and worked on X-RAY profile for revolutionary second half of class, due the following dasy B DAYS DUE JAN 29, A DAYS DUE JAN 30. NOTEBOOKS DUE SAME DAY.
1/22 and 1/23- Copied down chart onto page 88 and 89 and started taking notes on Mexican Revolution and got assigned our Mexican Revolutionary to be read for homework.
1/17 and 1/18- Watched Guns, Germs, and Steel, and answered questions on page 87. Time left in class attamepted to put murals about mexican history into chronological order. HW: Write a $2.20 summary of the film on page 86.
1/15 and 1/16- Socratic seminar on Child Labor. If you are absent you need to write 2 pages double spaed on the topic of of Child Labor and what you think about it. Started the discussion on the Mexican Revolution with the Unit Plan pn page 84. HW: SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT on page 82 Do a PSA/Urinal Advertisement on Child Labor due the 22 and 23.
1/11 and 1/14- Went over vocab for the reading and then went through article stations reading all of the Child Labor article, creating a pro and con chart on page 81 and answering questions about the article. HW: Work on the socratic seminar questions that are due next class for the socratic seminar.

1/9 and 1/10- Reviewed the Urbanization game.and created notes from the game on page 77. Started the discussion of child labor with the following questions answered on pag 78: 1. What age range is childhood? Why? 2. Do you want/need a job while in high school? why? 3.If a freshmen in high school was able to get a full time job and wanted to leave schools, should they be allowed to? why?. We then defined the following works on pg 79 : Childhood, Social Problem, Industrialization, Economy, Apprentice, Domestic Servant, Cottage Industry, Reformer. HW: Read at least the first 3 paragraphs to first page of the Child Labor Article.
1/7 and 1/8- Went over the end of the semester info and then handed out Industrial Revolution Unit Plan. Started (B days) and finished (a days) the urbanization game for a notebook grade. HW (A Days): Grasping a Concept of "Urbanization"

12/18 and 12/19- Took second part of the French Revolution test
12/14 and 12/17- Checked and turned in notebook. Took first part of the French Revolution Test.
12/12 and 12/13- We went over the event chart and then started the last of the French Rev film answering questions and doing vocabulary on page 74 and 75. HW: STUDY FOR TEST. FINISH NOTEBOOK.
The questions for the short answer for the test follow: How did the people of France affect the revolution? Were they important? Why?, Why was it an issue to kill the king? Why was it only a vote by 1 to behead him? What was Robespierre like at the beginning of the Revolution? At the end? Why did he change?, Why was this a revolution?, Did the Revolution change France? Explain your answer using specific evidence and events.
12/10 and 12/11- Finished notes on page 71 and went over the Concept map of the events of the Revolution on page 70. Did a reading work sample on Robespierre. Glued in the movie questions on page 73. HW: Questions and summary for notes pg 71 and the chart pg 70.
12/6 and 12/7- Did 3rd simulation of the Reign of terror and then started the third set of notes on the revolution on pg 71.
12/4 and 12/5- Watched the second part of the French rev. film and answered questions and did vocab on page 66 and 67. Second half of class we translated the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen and then decided what problem the clauses wronged (chart pg 69)
FRENCH REVOLUTION TEST 12/14-12/19
11/30 and 12/3- We acted out the Estates General and the Tennis Court oath for the first half of class. Second half of class we took notes on the start of the revolution pg. 65. HW: pg 64 do a Grasping a concept for :Events leading up to the Revolution
11.28 and 11/29- Watch a clip of a documentary on the French Revolution, answering questions and taking notes on vocabulary pgs 60 and 61. After the film, worked on 2 worksheets about the Three Estates. HW: Write a letter to the editor (instructions pg 14-bottom) about the questions: Should France keep the Three Estates?
11/26 and 11/27- Started the French Revolution. Glued in the French rev unit plan. Then were assigned different roles in the French Revolution. We acted out the major causes of the revolution and then took notes on the foundation of French social structure and main economic causes of the revolution on pg 59. For HW: pg 58, create a tattoo (instructions pg 17-top) about your estate.
11/19 and 11/20- First half of class counselors presented info. Second half of class, did in class timed writing of Somalia paragraph.
11/15 and 11/16- Went over the quotes and then worked on the outline for our paragraphs.
11/13 and 11/14- Went over reading, and then a Problems in somalia chart on page 55. Identifying all of the problems in the reading and then possible solutions and a government type that could provide those solutions. We then chose a govt to solve the problem and picked up quote sheets which we did for homework.
11/7 and 11/8- Graded special assignment, graded notebooks and turned them in, and took enlightenment quiz. After quiz read the "Somalia Q &A" artcile. Pg 53 answered pre-reading questions , makred the artcile with + for positive things, - for negative things, ! for interesting things, and highlighted main ideas. On page 52 did "dont Break the Bank" instructions page 15 with a $3.00 limit.

11/1 and 11/2- Continued the Enlightenment document analysis translating one additional document into our own words, figuring out the GISt and answering the question how it relates tot he enlightenment. HW: pg 46 make a cartoon/comic about one of the documents. We started the government chart on page 49.
10/30 and 10/31- Turned in WR Project/Called home. qw: PG 44- Is it a good or bad thing to question things? Started/Finished Enlightenment notes on page 45. Started LSA for pg 44- Box of colors. Translated 2 document exerts into modern english and answered questions on them. pg 46- Drew pictures to represent main concepts from the document.
10/29- Took first half of notes on the Enlightenment on Page 45 and then worked on WR Project second half of class. Homework- finish project.
10/26- worked on World Religion Project. DUE NEXT CLASS
10/24 and 10/25- Got Enlightenment Unit Plan for page 40 and then did a preview activity with vocabulary for the unit on page 42. Took notes on the Scientific revolution on page pg 43. HW. Work on World Religions Project and do questions and summaries. Went over WR test and have until 11/5 and 11/6 to retake test in testing center.
10/22 and 10/23- Finished tests and worked on World Religions Persona Projects due next week B Day 10/30 and A Day 10/31.
10/17 and 10/18- Turned in notebooks and took World Religions test.
10/15 adn 10/16- Did the Qw on pg 38 (What do you know about Buddhism?), took notes on Buddhism on page 39 and then did the Ring of Truth about Buddhism on page 38.
10/10 and 10/11- We did a QW on the top of pg 36 (Clump the following words together in at least 2 ways: Vedas, Siddartha Gautama, Monothesim, Abraham, Karma, Reformation, Five Pillars, Guru, Qu'ran, Vishnu, Brahman, Bible, Polytheism, Hindu, Four Noble Truths, Jesus, Shiva, Adonai). We then took notes on Hinduism on page 37. For homework: do questions and summary of notes and grasping a concept on page 36.
10/8 and 10/9- We did a QW on the top of pg 34 (What are some misconceptions about Islam?) and then took notes on Islam on pg 35. The second half of class we spent working on the Ring of Truth about Islam on pg 34 and also working on the World Religion chart on pg 28-29. identifying the major parts of all 5 major religions. For homework students need to do questions and sumamries about their notes, finish the Ring of Truth on pg 34 and work on the chart on pg 28-29.
10/4 and 10/5- We did a QW on the top of pg 32 (Whata re two similarities between Judaisma nd Christianity?) and then took notes on Christianity on pg 33. For homeowrk students need to write questions and summaries about the notes and also doa grasping a concept for Chirstianity on pg 32.
10/2 and 10/3- We went over how to retake/make up test in the testing center (Know if you are taking a retake or a make-up test and which test you want to do either the Written or Map Test or you can do both if you choose). We then did a QW on the top of page 30 and then took notes in Cornell Style on pg 31 about Judaism. we pratcied highlighting vocab, underlining main ideas, staring important facts, and put ? next to things we do not know. Students then indivudally wrote at least 3 questions in the question column of their notes. For homework they are to write the summary that answers the essential question or their own questions on the side. On page 30, we did GRASPING A CONCEPT (instructiosn on pg 13 in LSA-Graphic Org 2) for Judaism. RETAKES NEED TO BE DONE IN 2 WEEKS BY 10/17/12. MAKE-UP TESTS BY THE END OF THE WEEK.
