GRADE CHART FOR PARENT ASSIST
Key
Raw%= Traditional grade recieved on assignment
5 pt Score= Score entered into gradebook. I use a 5 point Grade Scale, so all assignments are graded out of 5 points.
Grdbk%= This is the percentage the gradebook assigns. It is based out of the 5 point scale.
Grade= The letter grade the student received on the assignment.
EXAMPLE: On a 40 point test, a student answers 32 of the 40 points currectly. This would traditionally be an 80% since they know only 80% of the material. With the 5 point grade scale this 80% becomes a 3.0. On the test paper the student would see 3.0 and that inthe grade book the assignment would recieve a 3.0/5.0 points. The gradebook then calculates that as a 60% and a B. The student recieves a B not a D becuase they do know 80% of the material.
The purpose of the 5 Point Scale is to have an equal distance between every letter grade to give students the most fair advantage. The 5 Point Scale takes the bottom half of the traditional scale, the F range of 59-0, and "mushes" it into just 10 points, like the distance between any other grade (A-B, B-C, C-D). A student must still demonstrate the same amount of knowledge to receive an A or B or C or D.
